Recipe of Delicious Berry Trifle
Trifle is a delightful British dessert that layers sponge cake, fruit, custard, and whipped cream. Here’s a traditional recipe for making a classic Trifle:
Ingredients
For the Sponge Cake
- 1 store-bought sponge cake or homemade pound cake
For the Custard
- 2 cups (480ml) whole milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 4 large egg yolks
- 1/2 cup (100g) granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
For the Fruit Layer
- 2 cups (about 300g) mixed berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries)
- 1-2 tablespoons sugar (optional, depending on the sweetness of the fruit)
For Whipped Cream
- 1 cup (240ml) heavy cream
- 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Step 01: (Prepare the Custard)
- In a saucepan, heat the milk and vanilla extract over medium heat until it just begins to simmer.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg yolks, sugar, and cornstarch until well combined.
- Slowly pour the hot milk mixture into the egg mixture, whisking continuously to avoid curdling.
- Return the mixture to the saucepan and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until it thickens into a custard. Remove from heat and let it cool.
