Joe Biden mistakenly identifies Macron, mixing him up with the deceased former French president Mitterrand
The most recent mix-up occurred just weeks after Donald Trump mistakenly confused Nikki Haley with Nancy Pelosi.
During a Las Vegas campaign event on Sunday, President Joe Biden reportedly made a mix-up, confusing French President Emmanuel Macron with former French president Francois Mitterrand. Recounting a Group of 7 (G7) meeting from 2020, Biden mentioned saying “America is back,” prompting a response from “Mitterrand” from Germany, which he corrected to “from France.”
Biden stated, “And Mitterand from Germany — I mean, from France — looked at me and said…’You know, what… why… how long you back for?” However, social media users later pointed out that Mitterrand, who served as France’s president from 1981 to 1995, passed away in 1996.
