Dubai has been officially recognized as the world’s most beautiful city when night falls.
Abu Dhabi, the capital, has also secured a position among the top 10 visually stunning cities at night, according to a recent study.
Like many of us who have aimed to capture the mesmerizing Dubai skyline, it appears that I’m not alone in filling my phone gallery with tilted shots of the Burj Khalifa and glittering views of the Palm Jumeirah from airplane windows. Interestingly, Dubai has now earned the official title of the world’s most beautiful city at night.
In a study conducted by travel experts at the holiday company Travelbag, Dubai emerged victorious as the world’s most picturesque city after dark. The research involved a thorough analysis of 146 of the world’s most popular cities, taking into account factors such as Instagram hashtags, light pollution, and safety levels.
Despite facing a challenge with a relatively high light pollution rating of 52.8 out of 100, Dubai’s impressive score of 83.1/100 for ‘safety to walk alone at night’ worked to its advantage. The city clinched the title of having the most dazzling nocturnal views, with an astonishing 25,905 Instagram posts tagged #dubaiatnight. Among these snapshots were glimpses of popular tourist spots like Burj Khalifa’s At The Top observation deck, while others illuminated off-beat destinations such as stargazing at Al Qudra.
Yet, Dubai wasn’t the sole UAE city to be featured on the list of the most enchanting cities at night. Abu Dhabi, the capital, secured the 9th position and also managed to find a spot in the top 10 for the allure of its illuminated streets and landmarks after dark.
The Southeast Asian cities of Tokyo and Singapore claimed the second and third spots, respectively, in the rankings. In another success for the Middle East, Muscat secured the #4 position, while New York was voted as the 5th prettiest city at night.
